Liberia Trauma Relief Initiative (LET-IT)
Heal Liberia’s Invisible Wounds!
Liberia’s
14-year civil war, the Ebola epidemic, and ongoing social and economic crises
have left deep psychological scars in the country. According to a World Health
Organization 2022 report, over 40% of Liberians show symptoms of PTSD,
depression, or severe anxiety, yet less than 10% have access to
mental health care and knowledge of coping skills. These “invisible wounds”
often fuel violence, family breakdown, and cycles of poverty.
FREE’s
LET-IT program, with partners, has trained 150 community members and 25
trauma relief trainers, bringing healing to survivors of war, abuse,
hardship, and other trauma-related issues. The impact is clear with huge
testimonies and strong recommendations for expansion, as the need far exceeds
our reach. Communities across Liberia are requesting trauma healing support we
cannot yet provide.
LET-IT
aims to deliver trauma-informed training and healing circles in high-need
communities, equip local leaders, health workers, and educators with culturally
sensitive care skills; and promote resilience, dignity, and social cohesion. Your
support can help us expand trauma services to underserved counties, train more
local practitioners, and directly impact more people.
Join
us to restore hope, break cycles of trauma, and build a peaceful Liberia.
