MAKING IMPACT, ONE DAY AT A TIME!

It was a great honor to join the Liberia Institute for “Growing” Patriotism (LIGP), the Angie Brooks International Centre (ABIC), and Cuttington University Junior College in Kataka on September 24, 2025, for a truly memorable occasion—the graduation of the 2nd Cohort of Rev. Emmanuel Bowier’s Sustaining Liberia's Peace Building Training Program. This remarkable initiative continues to raise community peace ambassadors committed to keeping Liberia’s peace alive.

The event, hosted at CU Junior College in Kataka, Margibi County, brought together distinguished leaders including Dr. Romelle Horton, President of Cuttington University; Hon. Olubanke King-Akerele, Former Foreign Minister, Chair of ABIC, and Executive Director of LIGP; Cllr. Yvette Chesson-Wureh, ABIC Establishment Coordinator; a representative from UN Women, and other notable guests.

Speaking at the event, FREE’s CEO, Dr. Charles Gbollie, reminded graduates and participants that peace is both champion and foundation of every fabric of society—it anchors development, progress, and unity. FREE is excited to work alongside LIGP, ABIC, and CU to enrich the program by integrating our Trauma Relief Curriculum, with plans already underway for a major cluster relief training in October 2025.

The momentum of that week carried forward. On Friday, September 26, we celebrated another proud milestone—graduating over a dozen learners from our flagship School of Value and Success (SVS) and officially launching the FREE Liberia “C” Certificate Programs in Monrovia. SVS continues to shine as a model of transformation, blending interactive learning with practical professional training to equip participants with the tools to live valuable and successful lives. The joy and pride among graduates and guests were simply unforgettable. We remain deeply grateful to our keynote speaker, Mr. Emmanuel Boone Waydon, Sustainable Development Specialist in the Office of the Vice President, and to our Chief Launcher, Mr. Moore K. Mulbah, District Education Officer, alongside other partners who graced the occasion.

The week concluded on Saturday, September 27, with the final Trauma Relief Cluster Training—the climax of a four-cluster journey that followed our intensive six-week Training of Trainers (TOT). Nearly 20 participants gathered for a session filled with practical skills on understanding trauma, recognizing triggers, and applying simple yet powerful tools for healing and resilience. As one key reminder echoed:
“Trauma is not your fault, but healing is your responsibility. You cannot control what comes around you, but you can control what gets inside you. Guard your response—it is the greatest power you have against trauma.”

At FREE—Foundation for Research, Education & Empowerment, we remain steadfast in our mission: to drive transformation through research, education, youth-focused empowerment, and advocacy. Each day, each program, each life touched is part of the larger story of building a stronger Liberia.
