Siemon L. Wee is a seasoned media professional and Project Officer with over nine years of experience in communication and project management. She began her career as a journalist at Liberia Women Democracy Radio (LWDR) and has since worked with various media institutions across Liberia, where she has reported, gathered, and presented news stories. Throughout her career, Siemon has made significant contributions to Liberia’s civil society space, driven by her passion for advocacy.
Her dedication to education reform led her to head the USAID-Civil Society Activity - CSA Education Coalition, where she championed initiatives to increase the education sector’s budget, pursue policy reforms, and promote accountability. In 2024, she actively advocated for raising the education budget to at least 20% of the national budget, aligned with international commitments like the Incheon Declaration and Dakar Framework. During her tenure, she facilitated the presentation of petitions and policy briefs to the national legislature, urging increased investment in education, especially for girls’ education.
Siemon’s work extends to serving as a program officer and project lead for initiatives funded by USAID, the EU, UNICEF, and other donors. She has played a key role in advocating for better teacher pay, improved school infrastructure, access to learning materials, and effective monitoring mechanisms to ensure transparency and reduce corruption in the education sector.
A firm believer that education is the foundation of societal development, Siemon continues to push for reforms that enhance access, equity, and quality in Liberia’s education system. Her efforts aim to empower Liberia’s youth by ensuring they have access to quality education and transformative opportunities.
In her current role as a Special Technical Assistant to the CEO, Siemon provides professional support in strategic planning, policy development, research, and stakeholder engagement. She plays a vital role in coordinating initiatives that enhance the activities and effectiveness of the CEO, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Her expertise and leadership continue to have a significant impact on advancing reforms that benefit Liberia’s youth and society at large.
